Jalan Kajang, George Town

Jalan Kajang is a short road off Dato' Keramat Road within the George Town city centre. It runs from north to south between Dato' Keramat Road and Jalan S.P. Chelliah.

The road was created in the early 20th. century, when the urban population of George Town was spilling westward out of Penang Road.

Etymology

Jalan Kajang was named after the town of Kajang in the Sultanate of Selangor, the state surrounding the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. Kajang also forms part of the Klang Valley, also known as the Greater Kuala Lumpur Conurbation, Malaysia's largest metropolitan area.
